The dairy industry is a crucial part of Georgia's agriculture industry. The state of Georgia is home to approximately 83,000 head of dairy cattle, contributing more than $344 million to Georgia's economy. Typically, dairy cows in the state of Georgia produce an average of 2,518 gallons of milk per year or approximately 8.3 gallons of milk per day!

James P. Edwards, 88 of Covington passed away May 26, 2016. Mr. Edwards was a member of High Point Baptist Church for 67 years, where he served as a Deacon and the Sunday School Director. He proudly served his country with the U.S Army, and he retired from Lithonia Lighting after 50 years of service. In addition, he was a member of the Golden Fleece Masonic Lodge No. 6, in Covington and the Newton County Masonic Square Compass Club. He was a big Atlanta Braves fan.
